Eleanor Blair demonstrates painting with white and black oil paint. This value study, commonly called a grisaille, will be the foundation for a transparent glazing demonstration. This is a useful exercise for anyone who would like to improve their perception of value relationships. See more of Eleanor's work at www.eleanorblairstudio.com

  • Great demo! I've looked at a lot of demos on underpainting/grisaille, but you've given me a new understanding of the process. Thank you!

  • Eleanor, what I should have mentioned is, I'm trying to put together grisaille and value studies in one process, so the process feels fluid. My greatest obstacle is fear, and watching you dance has given me hope. :)

  • Eleanor, Thanks for the demo. You've inspired me.
