@goshiluvarchie Do it one second, and if you need to, repeat the one second head turn again if safe, and if you need to maintain your present lane and its unsafe to switch you should maintain

@MrOnThaRIZ3 and not looking into the lane in which you're turning is stupid. You can cause an accident, hit a bicyclist, ect. It's a split second that you turn and look. Any GOOD driver turns their head and looks in which the direction they are turning.

@bittercoffee2 then the driving instructor would tell the police that he is a washington state certified driving instructor conducting an exam, and the cop would be on his merry way.

Do you really have to turn your head when changing lanes? I'm scared to do that in case the car in front of me abruptly stops or something. I usually take a look at my mirrors. Is that bad?

@goshiluvarchie Yes, when it's safe to do so, you always want to check your blind spots before changing lanes.
