  • gud day sir, may i have a schematics and lay-out for this pre-amp? i wil try to make it. its a good time for week end hobby

  • I just built a stereo pair

They sound great and Ruel at Five Fish gives great customer support!!

I totally recommend getting the SC-1 with the input transformers..

  • i cant buy this anymore? cause i looked online and you only have the 2 channel racks

  • @zedrein18 You should also consider the self-noise of the microphones you are using. Getting a more sensitive mic with lower self-noise might solve your problem; and if it did getting a new preamp wouldn't.

  • I know that a preamp can color the sound, but I seek to improve my S/N ratio. When I use the M-BOX 1's built in mic preamp I get too much noise for the amount of signal I need to push from that mic.

  • @kphone2007 man the nt1-a is such a great piece of kit.

  • Remember this when you go to shell out a grand for a new preamp! JK

  • What AD converters did you used for that song ? did you mix on the PC ?

  • that's actually a matter of opinion. Technically speaking when you talk about tube "warmth" it's actually a slight amount of harmonic distortion. So if your going for a very "pure" transistor is the way to go. I'm a guitarist so i have a natural instinct to like distortion and i love using tube pre's but that doesn't mean their better. Pre's that offer both tube and solid state paths are probably the most versitle out there.

  • I see that this isn't tube...would a tube unit almost always be a better alternative?
