FIRE-ROUT is a new patented portable firefighting system for extinguishing wildfires traveling through grass and brush. Fire departments can also use this new firefighting tool for post-fire mop-ups, for suppressing and guiding prescribed burns, for laying down wet lines, for spot fires, for defending dug firebreaks and roads from fire crossovers, etc. This system would allow firefighters and smokejumpers to quickly access and effectively extinguish many forest fires (even in rugged and remote areas), while they are still burning in ladder fuels on the ground and before they can reach up into treetop canopies to possibly cause firestorms. It can be used day or night, and even in windy conditions! And FIRE-ROUT, fuel and water or retardant can be transported to fires via most vehicles, even planes and ATVs!
FIRE-ROUT fills a niche in firefighting where fire trucks and brush trucks with their limited access and hose lays cannot reach. This system can quickly and safely put firefighters to work directly on fire lines!
Farmers and ranchers will find FIRE-ROUT handy for protection during crop burns. Its excellent for fighting wheat field and other field fires sparked by farm equipment or lightning and for fighting grassland or rangeland fires that often destroy critical grazing needed for cattle and wildlife.
Individuals can use this highly effective firefighting equipment to wet down rooftops, put out spot fires from blowing embers, and lay down wet lines to protect their homes, property and pets from grass and brush fires (even those sparked by fireworks)! Neighbors could pool their systems together for mutual protection. Those living in the wildland urban interface and in no mans lands without any other fire protection would find this portable fire extinguisher invaluable!
And the FIRE-ROUT System has been designed with firefighter safety in mind!
FIRE-ROUT represents a new method of fighting fires by using the wind as a friend, instead of an enemy. It uses a portable blower with a specially-designed blower tube to atomize water or retardant from a backpack tank, producing a constant flow of cooled spray or rain. (Atomization stretches the water or retardant farther, which is especially important in dry or remote areas and during droughts! This system is compatible with various sizes and types of blowers and tanks (with or without a pump, and even collapsible). A pump allows for an extra burst of moisture, if desired.
By fighting from the flanks and aiming the blower tube at the base of a fire (not just the flames), a person can SIMULTANEOUSLY lay down a wet line at the edge of the fire to prevent fire spread, displace a fires heat and gases (caused by pyrolysis)*, AND create a safe zone of good black AS he fights the fire!
On large fires, multiple units of FIRE-ROUT can be best utilized by using them in leap-frog fashion. This allows for firefighters to replace or refill spent tanks, while other readied firefighters take up the fight, saving precious time! The systems quick-disconnect allows for fast blower separation from the tank for safety and for easy transportation and storage!
Reaching and extinguishing wildfires quickly can save lives, homes, personal property, pets, farms and ranches, crops, cattle and grazing lands, wildlife and its habitats, watersheds, and other natural resources, etc.! This would also cut down on the amount of heat, unhealthy smoke, and the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere! It would reduce ground erosion caused by wildfires and the resultant deadly and costly mudslides! It would reduce wildlife endangerment and the destruction of native plants, with its resulting pestilence! It would save our vital oxygen-producing trees! And it would reduce the ever-increasing wildfire suppression costs for taxpayers, which is important with our current poor economy and budget cuts!
Deadly and devastating wildfires are a problem WORLDWIDE! The FIRE-ROUT System can help! It is inexpensive and affordable to nearly everyone, even those on limited budgets like volunteer fire departments!
