Geiger Counter & Thoriated Welding Electrodes RADIOACTIVITY

In this video you can see the radioactivity of a thoriated welding electrode (rod). This type of electrodes are used for TIG welding of inox steel and aloy. They are made up of 98% tungsten and 2% thorium, wich is radioactive.

The two geiger counters you can see are the russian Kvarts DRGB-90 (bought on ebay for 79$, directly from Russia), wich is a very good an sensitive meter and the italian LX 1407 (a kit wich I assembled, bought in Italy for about 150$.

Thanks for posting. Good to see the DRGB-90 in action. I'm looking for a DRGB-90 and a DRSB-88. Kvarts Geiger counters are cool and so collectible.
