What a Loving, and Beautiful World

漢字は、もともと、亀の甲羅や牛や鹿の骨、青銅器に刻まれていました。その 頃、漢字は、一文字一文字が世界を持っていたと思っています。

影は、カメラに映った映像を画像処理して認識しています。人が介在するので、無限のパターンがあるため、動きを前もってアニメーションで用意する わけにはいかないので、スクリーンに映っている映像の裏側には、3D空間があり、花や木、雨や、風など、全ては、3D空間上で、物理演算で、リアルタイム に計算しています。

壁に浮遊する書が、あなたの影に反応し、あなたを通して、書が持っていた世界が広がります。漢字が持っている世界、書に込めた紫舟さんの思い、そして、あなたの思いと、ま­­わりのひとびとの思い、そういうものが重なって、新たな世界が創られていきます。

Today, we are in the Digital Age. Digital Media is a part of our everyday life and the idea for this project was to incorporate the calligraphy of Sisyu into a digital media art work that would give people the chance to enjoy calligraphy through digital media. This project is a participatory installation. Calligraphy is projected over a large wall and the Kanji characters are sucked into the shadow of the person participating, causing a series of visual events that are accompanied by sound.

■Work description
The floating Kanji characters on the wall react to your shadow and open up to reveal each character's world. A new world is created by overlapping and combining the Kanji's world with that of Sisyu, the calligrapher, your own thoughts, and the thoughts of humankind that are contained in the origins of the characters.
This work uses a sensor that reads a participant's action. If one holds one's hand against the character for "Rainbow", a rainbow's image will be produced, if the character is "umi", meaning "Ocean", a wave image will be created. Each visual reacts with other visuals allowing for an infinite number of variations.
