@0nullbravado9 Rule of 3rds is about having double the gas it took you to penetrate to be able to exit or as some call it rule of doubles, turn when you have double the gas you need to exit.
Regardless of gas, I don't enter an overhead without redundand gas, thats what makes me cringe the most seeing people in these overheads

@SeaFox10 - the cave goes to around 150 feet deep, mostly a bedding plane with sand bottom, if in back mount your pushing belly through sand and tanks on ceiling. Going to try to get video of the cave system this month.

Sometimes the rule of thirds doesn't work! I'm pretty good at air conservation! You will also notice that it took me 8 minutes to get there! I had plenty of air for two saftey stops, and time to swim around in the spring! ;)

Great video - just how far/deep is it possible for an Advanced Open Water diver to go in Vortex Spring?

The spring itself is 60 feet deep. You then enter the cavern leading to the cave which is about 108 feet at the locked gate. It takes over 300 feet to get to there. To go beyond the gate, you need cave/tech diving certification, and it's 130 feet deep in there! :) Advanced will get you to the gate. But don't go alone like I did! It's a little spooky down there! ;D
I've been diving since I was 15, and have over 1000 dives!
