This touching montage was the last we saw on screen of many of the DS9 regular characters as they parted ways in the series finale "What you Leave Behind" which aired June 2, 1999. The song, which is played during their last scene all together in Vic Fontaine's, is "The Way You Look Tonight"... hence the title of this video.

If you love these characters as I do, don't forget that they live on in Pocket Books' DS9 Relaunch series which continues the story. Long live Star Trek and long live Deep Space Nine! :)

  • Truly great part of a great finale and an amazing show. However, I still think it's bogus that Jadzia was not in a single one of the memory segments...especially Worf's. :( Really don't know why they chose to omit her...

  • @jakestreet23 As I always understood it, she refused to let them use her likeness, but can't really find an article right now to back that up.

  • Can you post an HD version of this video?

  • Hell, I love and I miss DS9 so much that it hurts every time I take a look...

  • the thing is the novels aren't canon. :( so it would be like reading another alternate universe story.

  • @phrogxix From IMDB.com

In the montage scene, there are no clips of Jadzia Dax because the producers weren't able to get permission from Terry Farrell to use her image. Her asking price was just too high and the budget couldn't allow it. Producer Ira Steven Behr said he was disappointed by that. That it was one of the few things about the series finale that he wasn't happy about.

  • And also there is no relaunch for me... Even the part when Sisko said he'd return was added on Avery Brooks' request as there was a stereotype of a black man leaving his pregnant wife. Originally, he'd have said he can't return. For me, it is over. It is not just the best Star Trek show but also the best TV show for me, of all times. And it is fully ended, that was all. It was just beautiful having some people coming together and then after everything, part. The best, ever.

  • Somewhere (maybe on Memory Alpha) I read that they wanted Jadzia Dax to appear, it would have taken 3-4 hours of work with Terry Farrell, but they only got to talk to her manager, and it would have been far too expensive and Ira Steven Behr said he felt her feelings were hurt as the scene wasn't germane to the plot, and when they got to the clips the manager said they'd prefer if they managed without Terry Farrell... But she took part in the show's wrap party.

  • @jakestreet23 It's just because they didn't want to have to pay her again!!!

  • This made me feel sad the first time I saw it. The end of my favorite series. Now..I can't help but to think of the woman I never took it far enough with and a lot of things I did when I was a kid. I miss those times. I wish she was back and we were able to enjoy the things I enjoyed as a kid together as well.

  • @phrogxix guess that could very well be true. I get the sense there was some bitterness between her and the powers-that-be of the show seeing that while she did want to leave, she really didn't want them to kill off her character. C'est la vie I guess...

  • Definitely the best ending to a TV show in modern times, and for once, a definitive ending for a star trek series that showed that this *WAS* the end. Worf made ambassador to Qo'NoS, O'Brien moving back to Earth, Odo rejoining the Great Link, Sisko taken by the Prophets - you could tell that this was it. Add the montage, to the great instrumental of 'the way you look tonight' and you have grown men crying. I should know, i am one!
