  • Incredible model work. Camera fly-by might be the best ever captured on film.

  • When I saw this in 1979 I really wished my Ohio Scientific computer had more than 2K of memory.

  • why is it that the Klingon ship in the center didn't try to simply use warp drive to escape vger when it assimilated the two other ships after shooting or do those type of Klingon ships not have warp drive at all

  • @deityvishnu I'm sorry. I just hate all these stupid art films and out of body experiences. When I go to the Regal and buy cookie dough bites and root beer I expect to be told an epic story of adventure and romance. Not an acid trip with repetitive music, scenes that drag way too long. Pointless scenes that are never brought up again, questions that are never answered and an ending that is just plain fucked up.

  • @deityvishnu Sorry, I thought the film was boring as shit. Everything dragged on for too long and the ending made no sense.

Are you serious? STMP is practically brain-dead while 2001 offers genuine cerebral stimulus. Too bad you don't get it. There's a reason one is known as an all time classic and the other a failed debut nobody ever remembers.

  • I really luv this opening scene, I like that it opens with Klingons first instead of human characters. I luv how the Klingons hav2 attack everything they come across first before trying to investigate lol. Then they soon turn tail once they realize oops this things way more powerful than us, maybe we shudnt hav done that lets retreat now!! lol.

  • The short lived animated series had already made a plot like this where a cloud comes towards earth destroying everything in it's path well the difference being the clouds themselves the animated one was pushed away once it realized that the people who lived on those planets it was eating had people living on them while in the motion picture the cloud died because Decker had fixed voyager 6 and therfore destroying it entirely.

  • @archer1949 At least ST:MP had characters, a plot we can detect, and provocative ideas packaged inside rather than like 2001 be so ambiguous that its all up to the audience to invent their own meaning of it. Both have overly extensive scenes, but ST had stimulating visuals of V'ger than...landscape & some ship floating.

Plus thanks to Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic score it develops the ideas & atmosphere

more brilliantly than Kubrick playing a hit list of classic favorites.

  • @archer1949 I agree. It's almost as bad as that piece of shit 2001: A space oddesey.
