See - don't believe everything you see and hear - even COPS and cops can be wrong.
...it seems to me that the show has no problems misconstruing facts to make the show more interesting. He wasn't distilling, he was simply brewing, completely legal in Washington State (and Pierce County) in 1992.
Now for the brass knuckles and the pot ..those aren't so legal.

@iamjonsharp That shot of Charlie Papazian's Joy of Homebrewing was a classic. The "still' was homebrewing equipment and the "marijuana" was hops. The officer involved talking about killing people with bad homebrew? NO clue whatsoever what he was talking about or that he just arrested two people for pursuing a legal hobby. As homebrewers, we need to educate legislators and law enforcement alike.

Not every "official" understands what homebrewing is. This is simply another example of a homebrewer getting busted for "marijuana" plants that were really hops & a "still" that was homebrewing equipment. We need to make sure law enforcement and legislators understand what homebrewing is.

@eedwards74 Right. It was an immersion chiller not a still. The one guy knew what he was talking about when he was talking about the mash tun, but the main guy is crazy talking about killing people from making beer.
