Actually, Elagabalus succeeded not Caracalla, but Macrinus. By the way, Elagabalus was promoted as emperor on the grounds that he was the illegitimate child of Caracalla and his cousin but this was just a trick for the former empress' family to return to power, that family having been ousted by Macrinus after he had Caracalla killed. Historia Augusta said his mother was a "harlot" and his given name Varius comes from schoolmates saying that he came from "various" men.

Yes, but that's a bit different from Elagabalus, don't you think?
Sure, he and Ed Gein did some horrible things, and it's fine to blame them for what they did wrong, so why blame them for other things that very well may not be true?

@frtw4428 Keep in mind that a lot of negative propaganda was spread about him and it's likely the story of him throwing servants into furnaces, is little more than that. He seemed like a pretty chill guy. He just wanted to be a woman. : (

Pretty good up until 0:44. I also understand, Elagabalus was also a curel despot who liked to throw slaves into flaming furnaces during dinner parties, thinking that they're screams would amuse his dinner guests. Thankfully, he (and his pathetic mother) got their just desserts - they were assassinated, decapitated, and their bodies thrown into the Tiber River.
