MD Wonder Boy in Monster World

One of my favorite Wonderboy titles to this day. Like all Wonderboy games, it may look at first a platform slah'em'up, but its in fact a Action Adventure, not unlike current Castlevanias or the 2D Metroids.

I waslucky to have played Wonderboy in the Spectrum and Amiga, so when I got this one, It was bliss.

Now re-released on the Wii Virtua Console.

@Insomnia1509 Consider rebuying it for the Wii Virtual Console (if you have a Wii ) or use an emulator for PC. Google for KEGA Fusion. =)

There was a secret, hidden shop covered in vines where you could trade those gemstones for more fire/earthquake/thunder/hearts­; which you needed all of to defeat the final boss.

As a kid, never beat the last boss. As a man, downloaded it on Wii, played it through, beat the boss after a hard fight ... and felt the feeling of pride, achievement and "ending a personal chapter".

That time I couldn't read so I had to ask my dad how that ocarina stuff workes LOOL.

Anyway nice to know that I finally know what I was playing (as I couldn't read that time).

@TommyUB No, this is Wonderboy in Monster World on the Sega Geneses.

The one with the mouse and 'checkered floors' you've mentioned was Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap. =)

It was on the Sega Master System.

Must've been paying a little bit of amage to old Wonderboy players by making the first area EXACTLY the same as the first area in Wonderboy in Monster Land for SMS. <3

This game was great, I rememeber running around pressing up everywhere I went to find hidden doors. The last boss was a nightmare though.

I remember first trying to play this game when I was little, I was so stupid I didnt realize you had to talk to the creepy old dude to get the moving platform moving at the beginning. Me and a friend of mine spent forever trying to figure it out. Yet once I got past that part, the rest of the game went really smooth. I still had my "stupid kid" moments occasionally. It took me forever to find the game cuz I couldn't remember what it was called. I never thought it would be Wonderboy, lol.
