Police TV advert banned for being 'deceitful'
The Advertising Standards Authority has told the Home Office that this television adverts highlighting the government's "policing pledge" that neighbourhood officers can now be expected to spend 80% of their time on the beat is to be banned with immediate effect. The ASA says in an adjudication to be published next week that the television ad breaches its "legal, decent, honest, truthful" code because it is misleading on at least three counts. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/mar/25/police-advert-ban-labour

  • They have the time to harass me while taking photos of the beautiful scenery were I live, just because my rear tyre was just touching the Clearways white line, I had stopped in an entrance to a field for a few moments. We the honest citizens are easy target, they have no interest in proper policing.. more tale of Balfrons finest later

  • i hope all the british cops get fucked at work. Useless, dishonest and judgemental. Everytime I needed them I was left alone and without any help. I do hope they all fuck off. They are the ones who should be put behind bars.

  • Britiain is the most free country in the entire world, even going as far as to give freedom to the police to arrest and hold without evidence anyone who looks a little bit too Arabic. Summary of this Advert: "Who told you that we occasionally screw up? They LIE".

  • Instead of hating the police learn about the laws, learn about your rights and as long as you live by common law. Do not harm, injury or cause loss for anyone then you are free as a bird! Never go to court again and surprise most police officers. As half of them do not know the law, as they are being trained without knowing about the fact of being a human being only common law applies!

  • I wish it was true.

  • It's a shame "on the beat" doesn't mean what it meant in the old days... officers on foot in local areas, "on the beat" today means touring about in vehicles, mainly on main roads, etc... never see officers on a council estate for example.

  • it seems that the police everywhere in the world are the same. i live in canada and the police here are just as awful as anywhere else. useless, dishonest, and judgmental... at best.

  • @DarcMac

yea yea lets all pretend we can win an arguement with intimidating insults and forget how contradictory our words are when aligned with our actions. are you military because you truly want to defend your country or because you want to impose your patriotism on third worlds struggling to compete with our 'democracy'? Military service used to be about honor not a homogenous hive-mind mentality you have to be a part of to understand.

  • @dwilkymilky Actually, I think for myself and don't have to flip-flop on anything. Exactly where do you stand, Pussy-Boy - besides in the shadow of your mommy's vagina? And who are you calling "gun-toting pigs in makeup"- the men and women of the military protecting your cowardly ass? Go back into the corner and keep sucking on your thumb, Pussy-Boy. Your balls haven't dropped yet. The grown-ups are talking.

  • @DarcMac

Libertarian is an umbrella term for undecided flip flopper that just happens to buy into right wing politics for some reason. It's so liberal to not see eye-to-eye with gun-toting pigs in makeup that are still afraid of Russia, China, suicidal terrorists and public education. How old do you think the Earth is? 235 years?

  • @Riftboy901 I was burgled 4 times where I used to live, the police call it "Anti Social Behaviour" when your council flat is burgled and advise you to call the council. They give you a crime number to claim your insurance then come to your house 3 days later to "investigate".

  • @Ray39UK You know nothing - if that's all they do then how is it that they have most of the time no breaks and run over shifts dealing with things? I think you've been watching too much of the Bill...
