The Beijing Olympics have ended today, and the Olympic flag has been handed over to Great Britain. Boris Johnson, mayor of London, was there to collect the flag.
A flight bound for Iran from Kyrgyzstan has crashed shortly after take off, just days after the same happening occured to a Spanair flight, resulting in the death of well over 100 people.
A train transporting fuel through Georgia has crashed and exploded. The train was on a main line linking east and west Georgia, which helps transport oil from Azerbaijan and Europe. There has been no reports of any injuries or deaths.
A Spanair flight has made an unscheduled landing, days after another Spanair flight crashes. The flight was bound from Barcelona to Lanzarote, and the pilot radioed through the Air Traffic Control at Malaga Airport to report a problem with the aircraft.
Two roadside bombs have been set off early Sunday morning killing four people and injuring at least 14 others in Baghdad. One of the killed is said to be a police officer and reports have suggested that most of the injured or dead were so by the second bombing.
Two journalists, along with their translator and driver, have been kidnapped in Somalia. A Canadian woman and an Australian man have been kidnapped after reporting in the country.
