if you missed last nights lunar eclipse, here it is slapped together and condensed into 3 min :). there are probably plenty of better lunar eclipse pics or videos out there, but how many can claim being filmed and edited with a fever...i really wanted to do this with a still camera, but my battery is shot so i was stuck using the video camera which automatically focuses, but not always to where i want it to :(

when the moon starts coming out of the earths shadow there are two and then three images. this is because i came to my senses and took that part of the video from inside my house. the focus sometimes shifts from the direct image to the reflected image

  • Thanks to you, I now know that I have lived through two Saros. :(

  • i'm well into my third :P

  • Another great video Oloigon. I am shocked that you would be able to get such great shots! Now I have to go and google this, as I'm forgetting the exact cause and effect of this, and I want to teach my boys about it. Yeah, I ditched a lot of days in school. LOL Don't laugh.

  • thanks lori. the automatic focus was a bit frustrating, but it was mostly good. i kind of liked the double (and eventually triple) images that i got after i moved my rig inside and shot through a double-pained window

  • Thanks for capturing this... I saw it to the half way point before clouds obscured it. Next one isn't until 2010, I heard.

  • right, that was the main thing that got me to do it after my still camera crapped out on me...btw. wecome back from the great void (real life)

  • Yes... real life is such a time-sucking vortex.

  • thanks, at first i didn't think i would get anything since i couldn't seem to keep the camera focused

  • thanks rick, when i started it was a bit frustrating because the video camera wouldn't keep in focus. there was still some of that in the end, but not nearly as bad as in the beginning.

  • That's great footage! Thanks for sharing. I missed the the eclipse :(
