Shot at the "Wind Wand" site and at the "Double Harmonic" exhibition in New Plymouth. Thanks to the Govett-Brewster Gallery, The Len Lye Foundation and Tony Nicholls for permissions.

With "cheekygirl10" you are seeing a genuine spontaneous response. Sure, I set up subjects for her to comment on but then I let her go and and this is what happens. Example lesson from experience: When "cheekygirl10" started reading aloud from artwork labels and plaques I almost stopped the camera thinking this would get tedious. But then when the art expert language collided with a 10-year-old reader, the comedy moment happened "... they use complicated words here. I will look those up in the dictionary later on..". As an ex-film-user I am getting used to the concept of letting the videotape roll on to let the magic moments happen from even unpromising takes.

  • does it really light up at night? you should record a video of this and upload it, I would love to see what it looks like when the wind blows. Especially if the emission of was light involved.

  • And ... I too am perplexed by the use of complicated words here! Gets me all the time!

  • Oh and, yes, I live along the road from the Wind Wand!

  • Cheekygirl, you are absolutely delightful!!! I am sharing your creations with my online friends. Have you been on the tele yet? Someone ought to have sent this video to the television stations. Maybe they did? ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ha ha she's damn good at that!

  • This girl is super cool. More interesting than most of the people on NZ television.

  • Is that a New Zealand accent? How is it that countries like Australia and New Zealand with such small populations produce so much talent!!! Must be the clean air...

  • She is a natural. She has the face for comedy, so expressive. She's sassy, clever and just too real. Give her some training in the entertainment industry and she will shine. She will also be one of the few people on this earth who will love her job and also make money at it.

  • Brilliant! Fantastic! Lovely clever girl!

  • cute girl
