Seen for the first time since it's broadcast in 1998. This was the Documentary shown to tie in with Sooty's 50th Anniversary. In these 17 parts you find out Sooty's everlasting appeal, Harry's Talent with the piano and how going deaf led to him taking up magic tricks and buying a teddy bear puppet, blacking his ears and called him Sooty and the rest is history. Then we have a rare interview with Harry, Sooty walking on his own and creating the perfect double act when Sweep joined the show. We reflect on the infamous moment when Sooty soaks The Queen, Look at the puppeteers dream team and the controversy surrounding Soo's introduction to the team. The documentary then looks at the good work Sooty does for Charity, Switching networks to ITV and the reasons why BBC dropped Sooty, Celebrities argue who is the most popular member of the gang and how Matthew join the family business and him taking charge of the show from his father. Matthew reflects of PC episodes of The Sooty Show, some of Sooty Show's guest stars and explain how there will always be a place for Sooty in children's television.

I don't think the show was ever overly PC. Sooty still hit people on the head with a hammer, misbehaved etc. Yes they started portraying the female characters differently but that's just reflecting the changing times, adapting. And I can't stand parents who write in to TV shows about things like that. Just because one child is upset by a particular thing doesn't mean that thing is unsuitable for children in general. Children are often weird in the things they're scared of.
