Cessna 414 Short TakeOff and Landing at LL10 - Naper Aero

They say the 414's are runway hogs and certainly compared to the TBM 700 (see other video from LL10), they can be. But the difference between standard takeoff technique and a modified shortfield technique is huge.

LL10 is about 2400' long and 30' wide. Here we are demonstrating out of that field and you can see that the ground roll is no more than 1/3 of the length!




There are a bunch of cautions... I did a LOT of experiements at nearby ARR before I perfected the technique and felt comfortable with LL10. I put all the date in Excel so I could extrapulate from a lot of that data to find a similiar condition day - wind, temp etc, and a/c loading.

Nice. Shortest I've been into with that sled is 3200', and I did not like that. The landing did not bother me... knowing what would have happened had I lost an engine on takeoff did, though. Well done!
