Started my son shooting Ipsc with an airsoft pistol. It's safe. We were shooting single targets at the range with a real 9mm on open days at the range. We practiced safe gun handling skills. Always point down range and finger off of the trigger until ready to shoot. Muzzle control....not sweeping anything you are not willing to shoot. Load and make ready and unload and show clear. Drawing from the holster safely. Changing mags. We practiced not looking at the RO while his gun was out of holster, even when the RO is talking to him. Lots to think about. By the time he shot his first match with a real gun, all the guys were very confident in his safe gun handling skills.

I have a 12 year old daughter that doing the ipsc here in ca. using a glock 34 you could check her to milocynth account in youtube her name is nicole, sometimes she embarrass some shooters in her class just started last october of 2007 but she could handle the 9mm pretty well.

  • racarbon. Your daughter nicole shoots very well. Her shooting shills are smooth and deliberate. Great job.

  • My son's 11 now and he shoots an hk usp 9mm compact at our local matches now. Yea ur right a .45 para is pretty hard for a young shooter. Do you still shoot?

  • imo a .45 recoil feels just like a 9mm.

  • wow, is he shooting still? check in milocynth account in youtube i have a daughter that do ipsc she's 11 also using a glock 34.

  • hahaha. i remember my self when i first started, i was 11 back in philippines and my coach would never let me fire a live bullet unless i completed ten laps of jogging in a 10 hectare firing range.. and also i started in .45 para ordnance which was so heavy for my little hands hahaha...
