Today is December 29th. This is the fourth day of Kwanzaa. The priciple of the day is UJAMAA, which means cooperative economics. To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.

  • Thanx for sharing. I support black business not only because it's giving back to my community but, because i plan to become business owner soon & I want my people to support me.

  • Good for you. Let us know when you get up and running.

  • I have in my own way to support black owned businesses since I could do so. There are some here in Mobile and I try to support them when I can. When Carol's Daughter was online before it went nationwide, I ordered from them as well as other businesses. Although I feel you, I feel your conviction. But let me ask this, or say this, blast it, but as you mention collective, make it where the businesses are known nationwide online. most times we don't know. just a thought.

  • So, maybe you could assist in that venture. Everyone can do a part.

  • I think the central emphasis of Ujamaa is really on credit unions, worker owned co-operatives, mutual aid and unionisation, rather than the fate of small businesses.

  • Maybe for some it is. But I concentrate on snall businesses. Everyone is entitled to have their own interpretation. Thanks for weighing in.

  • This is getting saved on my playlist Blacks in Business

  • THE KINGDOM OF GOD'S SON JESUS CHRIST IS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER CULTURE THAT WISHES TO PROSPER- SHOP WISE WITH YOUR MONEY- BEING A CUBAN-AMERICAN WHOSE BLOOD COMES FROM THE HEALTHY BUSINESS CITY OF LITTLE HAVANA- THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CONCEPT- I SUPPORT THIS COOPERATIVE ECONOMICS CONCEPT- AS KING CYRUS TO THE GENTILES- I SAY DADDY BE STRONG DAY- CUBAN AMERICAN BUILT LITTLE HAVANA USING A COOPERATIVE BUSINESS MODEL- THAT SAME SHOULD BE TRUE FOR ALL BLACK COMMUNITIES..

  • Thanks for sharing. But that has not a thing to do with me and why I celebrate Kwanzaa. I enjoy the principles and think they would do well in my community. I don't have time to defend or attack the man that created Kwanzaa. It seems he has been judged and convicted. Anything else?

  • 1970s, Ron . . . uh, Maulana, kidnapped two of his own female followers, stripped them naked and whipped them with electrical cords, and beat them with a karate baton. He then placed a hot soldering iron in one of his victim's mouths, scarring her face, then put her toes in a vise and poured detergent in both their mouths. He was convicted of this heinous crime and spent four years in prison. That, my friends, is the father of Kwanzaa.
