Great sound, a tribute to what can be done when the exhaust is designed properly, a nice low burble. I have one and, for the record, my clock doesn't work but everything else electric does.

Like the way the bonnet automaticaly closes. Nice car. Keep em going.

If I recall correctly, this was the last of the "real" Rover's as my dad used to say. What he meant by this, was that this was the last to have a proper chassis rather than later designs. He was offered 2 of them at ridiculous low prices when the price of petrol shot up to a £1 a gallon! Seriously. Nice motor - built to last.

Hey that same ticking clock can be heard at 70mph it makes a nice "clunk" when the hands turn every 1.5minutes
-
The clock in this one has its moments too ha ha!

Haha!! That's if your electric clock's still ticking :) Not in ours :P

Behind the silver filter box? Thats the box with the heater in which has loads of insulation round it.
Is this model from the British Leyland era?

Well 1970 so thats sort of british Leyland, although hardly the darkest days. But P5s didnt suffer from British Leyland disease, they're far to regal for that.

No, it was a pre British Leyland design when Rover still built and designed quality cars. The P5 didn't have the V8 until later on after Rover bought the rights to the Buick 215ci alloy V8. The first BL era Rover was the P6 and the last was the stylish but badly made Rover SD1. BL's own V8 was the 3.0 Triumph engine which was very unreliable compared to the classic Rover 3.5 P5B's were solid well made tanks, and they still look grand today.

I think you'll find the P6 came out in 1963 so was easily pre British Leyland.
And it was made in 1970 when Rover was owned by British Leyland - but your right they were well made as I said originally, this is why we have one.
