BIOSAND FILTER INTRODUCTION

Bio-sand filter has rather simple structure and it is not difficult to make. It might take time at first but one bio-sand filter can be used from 2 to 3 years.

You can use plastic container to make bio-sand filter, inside is gravel and sand to filter the water. The container operates according to communication vessels principle. The water inside should always be 5 cm to nurture the microorganism to develop.

That's why beside normal filter system, the bio-sand filter also has the function to kill the bacteria. According to the research of PATH FOUNDATION, Canada, the filter can kill the bacteria up to 95%.

One day the filter can supply 80 liter of water, it is enough for family use during the day.

However, when you want to drink this water, you should cook or make drink water according to SODIS method.
