Altruism is a fallacy. There is always some underlying motivation for someone to do something for the "greater good," whether it be to look good to the neighbors or to give themselves a sense of worth. How has the country been any better since Obama "Christ" has taken office? Unemployment is the highest it's been in decades, we're facing the biggest tax increase in history, and he STILL has yet to pull our troops out of the Middle East. But, by GOD! We'll give him the Nobel Peace Prize!

It probably wouldn't occur to a self-centered, ignorant right winger, but the vast majority of docs go into medicine because they want to help people and because they're interested in medicine itself. Altruism is a foreign emotion to people who judge everything on the basis of cash, which is why the country goes downhill, whenever the right gains control.
