Today you only hear the longer stereo version of "Spinning Wheel," but that wasn't the original hit (same with "You've Made Me So Very Happy"). This is the original mono single edit version. Instead of the long jazz solo in the middle, it just has a brief electric guitar solo, and the calliope effect at the end is also cut short.

Played from the original Greatest Hits LP on a Sony PS-LX250H turntable using its built-in preamp.

  • This is weird - no matter where you click on the time bar, the song starts from the beginning. And there is no total time given.

    Bizarre.

  • @TheKevinTracy That's because the video file I uploaded only had one frame, so it's basically just an audio track with a still image attached. YouTube stopped supporting this format just days after I uploaded this video.

  • fantastica voce di David Clayton -Thomas

  • @vwestlife Thanks for that info. Never ran across that before.

  • This is the version I remember as a kid

  • i have a version on there played a trompet the solo part xD

  • I prefer this version, the only chopping really is at the end, and the album ersion end is dumb IMHO. The middle solo is better on this version as well!

  • Get the album with this and You've made me so very happy, a MASTERPIECE!

  • I prefer this single version. To me, it's more focused than the LP version. Plus, it has the nice short electric guitar solo missing on the LP.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for the video response to my video. I tried to approve it, but it doesn't show up in my video responses. Must be a YouTube glitch, because this has happened several times.

I do prefer the full LP version though. In general I prefer the full version of any song to the sliced-up single versions.
