A very unknown opera from Jules Massenet, recorded by Sutherland, la Stupenda, with the support of Aragall in the role of Roland and her great friend Tourangeau in the role of Esclarmonde's Sister. As usual, Bonynge, her husband, conducts. This is a magnific piece of art, unfortunatelly has few performances due to the fact of demanding a huge and powerfull voice. It tells the story of Esclarmonde, a sorcerer, that falls in love with a christian knight and by magic takes him to an enchanted island where they fall in love. All is discovered, and much happens, but for that, you have to search for more. this is just a tease. Hope you get so interested on it as i am.
