Aperture 3 is the latest version of Apples flagship photo management application.

Previous versions have been aimed squarely at the professional photographer, but with this new release, Aperture has been repositioned as a tool for both prosumers and professionals. One of the reasons many people have held off moving to Aperture was the inclusion of Faces and Places in iPhoto '09. Without them, Aperture 2 was not really a compelling upgrade for iPhoto users. All has been fixed now in Aperture 3 with the inclusion of both these features and over 200+ new improvements.

Aperture 3 now gives "Pro performance with iPhoto simplicity"!

As I've never covered Aperture before, I thought I'd best start from the ground up and cover the basic functionality in this weeks show. No prior knowledge of Aperture is assumed and I approach the subject as an iPhoto user considering moving over to Aperture. Next week I'll take a look at some of the new and enhanced features.

  • @DarkRavenHackers What doesn't work?

  • Oh, I forgot. After editing photos with Aperture, I find myself using Photoshop to color correct the image and saving it using "save for the web". Is this mandatory?

Does your image quality looks good after editing in aperture?? thanks again

  • @jackies35 Looks OK to me?

  • wats the serial number

  • So I imported some photos from iPhoto using the iPhoto browser selection and when they imported, it imported 3 versions, the original, the edited, and one with horizontal orientation. Why did it import a third photo?

  • An amazing tutorial! Thanks.

  • What does it mean when you say "haitch" repeatedly?

Are you actually saying the letter between "G" and "I"?

  • When you import RAW and JPEG pairs and set the RAW as master, is it still possible to see and edit the JPEGS? When I import I can't switch to JPEG pictures unless I change the setting to make the JPEGs the master files. Please help, all I want to do is keep the RAW files as the master but still be able to share my JPEGS!

  • There is a feature in iphoto that is extremely helpful when it comes to geotaging. I have multiple photos in a project, I can geotag one pictures, copy it, and then click paste location under the edit tab. This automatically geotags all the other pictures. This is a great time saver. Is there a way to do the same in aperture 3?

  • CAn you edit the images like phtoshop
