Yo'ster Isle's Mushroom Derby is completed. I grab flowers in the Pipe Vault along the way and prepare for the upcoming battles against Croco and Punchinello.

This is a run of mine on Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (for the SNES) where I complete the level 3 challenge, which means beating the game with Mario at level 3. I play on ZSNES, but only use save states when I need to avoid gaining experience in the egg game. Consider this a visual walkthrough for successfully completing the challenge.

  • At 1:46 how do you duck to get that frog coin? I've tried multiple methods but nothing seems to work.

  • just hold Y, and while running hold down+right on the d-pad when you get to that point. should work

  • what does yoshi egg do again?

  • Heh, my annunciation must have been bad. I was trying to say "Yoshi Aide" (I think it's Yoshi-ade on the game menu) which boosts all the stats of a party member during battle. It's basically like using Geno Boost.

  • @OmniFF yes but in the VC version there are many changes like the sprites, enemies and timing.

  • why don't you just use a SNES controller

  • so the yoshi race you have to get the beat with the music?

blimy i am so bad at getting the beat i was always behind everyone when in music class

  • I mentioned Yoshi's Island, you didn't read My comment all the way, re-read I put Yoshi's Island there) It's an awesome game but I kind of wished Yoshi had had a bigger role in this RPG and the first Paper Mario, it wasn't until Thousand-Year Door that we got to see him become one of the major characters in a Mario RPG game.

  • Umm, What about Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's island... That whole game was him...

  • godddam... how do u do the dam race?

  • Yoshi's Island and Tetris Attack were all he had going for him (all he had appeared in before were Puzzle games with Mario being the person you control and awful educational games of course he had also appeared in Super Mario World) still I can't help but want to see him in action more in Mario's first RPG, oh well at least Geno's an awesome character in your party, and at least Nintendo (along with Intelligent Systems) made up for that in PM:TTYD a couple years later by having a Yoshi join you.

  • I really wish Yoshi had played a bigger role than just a racing mini-game, items (even if some were pretty useful) and riding around in a small area (that he can't even leave) to just talk to a few other Yoshi's you couldn't understand without him, I would have loved for Yoshi to be able to join Me as a party member, oh well guess since it was the SNES days he hadn't gained too much popularity and Yoshi's Island and Tetris Attack were all he had going for him *2bcont.*
