This event is remembered by every MetroStars fan who was there from the begining. Nicola Caricola scored an own goal with 15 seconds left on the clock to hand the NE Revolution a victory in the Metros home opener of their very first season. This was a harbinger of things to come.
hr110391 - If I remember correctly, it was around 40-50,000. They closed off most of the upper deck for games.
I was sitting even with the 6-yard-box on the opposite side of this camera angle. The post was on my right, Tony Meola was sitting on his ass in front of me, Caricola was facing the post on my left, and for the rest of my life, that ball will flutter over Meola's head from left to right and into the net, thus making the Tri-state area pay for the sins of the Cosmos' excesses eternally.

Now wonder the Metrostars flopped. That was embarassing. The sad thing is alot of people left that game and have probably never been back.

Because of location and Division the Red Bulls and Revolution should be natural rivals

awful jerseys----then again, the adoption of adverts like European clubs is a bad move as well.

mls was way better back then, there was numberous superstars, STILL IN THERE PRIME,and playing for there national team, which is more than u can say bout today. Vel pibe valderamma,el diablo, Cienfuegos, el brody campos etc etc, now u dont have any story lines, any superstars to follow, nobody cares about juan pablo angel or donavon
