Part 1 of an interview with ex Gillingham player Bob Taylor from Purple Pig Productions for Kent Sports News. (www.kentsportsnews.com)
In the first of the series to find out Whatever Happened to Kent's sports stars, we have thrown the spotlight on Gills legend Bob Taylor.
The former Gills striker is now manager of Norfolk side Diss Town and in an exclusive interview 'Super Bob' has spoken to Kent Sports News about his time with the Gills, who he still keeps in touch with and life after his time at Priestfield.
Robert 'Bob' Taylor became the Diss Town manager in April 2008. he was formerly manager of Dereham Town, and was previously a professional player with Norwich City, Birmingham City, Leyton Orient, Brentford, Gillingham, Manchester City, Wolves, Grimsby, and Scunthorpe United.
Taylor joined the Gills from Brentford for £500,000 in August 1998 and spent just over a year at the club before joining Manchester City for £1.5 million in November 1999.
In his spell at the Kent club, Taylor scored an incredible 39 goals in just 70 appearances.
He became a cult hero scoring some exceptional goals that live long in the memory. Many Gills fans will remember him for his five goals at Burnley in February 1999.
His hat-trick against Bristol City at Priestfield just weeks before he left the club was a display that surely tempted City to spend their cash on the prolific striker.
His time at City didn't last long and he was sold to Wolves the following summer for a small profit but injury plagued the rest of his playing career.
He returned to the Gills in October 2001 for a three month loan spell making just 11 appearances with eight of those coming off the bench and eventually finished his playing career at Scunthorpe in June 2003.
From there, he went on to start a career in management and under Robert's guidance Diss Town won the Ridgeons league Division One Cup in season 2008-2009.
Chris Neilson from Purple Pig Productions spent the day with Bob as he prepared for his teams game with behind the scenes footage and brings you the exclusive video out now!
