Leaving Christianity 4 Creationist Categories

This video addresses how I categorised the various creationism belief systems. I used this framework of broad categorisation of "origin" beliefs, which are all based on alternate biblical interpretations, when having various dialogs. This is not addressing which ones are right or wrong, just that they exist. As there are 10, everyone would most likely disagree with the 9 that aren't the ones that they subscribe to. If I have missed anyone, please let me know. In addition, these can actually be used across all of the Abrahamic theistic beliefs not just the Christian viewpoints (There are now more Christian denominations than there are verses in the bible). I am not taking into account and polytheistic or deistic beliefs. Please note that this is a broad categorisation only and there are small components of one category which will be adopted by various sub groups of another category. The groups 1-7 have inconsistencies with the findings of modern science, whilst groups 8-10 are completely compatible with the findings of modern science.

Incompatibile with modern science

Young Earth Category

1) Flat Earth Creationist - Absolute literalist including the belief that the Earth is flat

2) Geocentric Creationist- Almost absolute literalist, no flat Earth but the Sun, planets and the entire universe revolves around the Earth.

3) Young Earth Creationist - Literal 6 day creation approx 4004BC, all species were specially created (recently modified to allow change within an undefined "kind"), literal worldwide flood, solid canopy (rejection of this aspect is becoming more common)

Old Earth Category

4) Gap Creationist - Gap between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 allows for 13.7BYO universe and 4.5BYO Earth, special creation of species, no speciation occurs.

5) Day Age Creationist - Each creation day of undetermined length and not necessarily directly consecutive, 13.7BYO universe and 4.5BYO Earth, special creation, no speciation

6) Progressive Creationist - 13.7BYO universe, 4.5BYO Earth, Human special creation, evolution occurs, no single common ancestor

7) Intelligent Design - Irreducible Complexity exists in microbiological systems and indicates an intelligent designer. Complex Specified Information uses an explanatory filter to determine intelligent designer intervention.

Compatibile with modern science (In the sense of no direct misrepresentation of the findings of modern science)

8) Appearance Of Age Creationist - (Navelist) No issue with any findings of modern science as God simply created it to look that way. (Can be young or old Earth. God or Satan simply planted all of the evidences of an old Earth)

9) Evolutionary Creationist - Accepts current scientific theories as viable hypotheses to describe the natural universe. Methodological naturalism does not equate to philosophical naturalism. i.e. Science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God, due to it's internal methodological approach. Evolution occurs and is a process guided by God to acheive a species specific outcome. Consistent with pre-destination over freewill.

10) Theistic Evolution or BioLogos - Accepts current scientific theories as viable hypotheses to describe the natural universe. Methodological naturalism does not equate to philosophical naturalism. i.e. Science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God, due to it's internal methodological approach. Evolution occurs and is specifically not a process guided by God to acheive a species specific outcome but a result of the laws God put in place with the knowledge that beings with the capability of containing a spirit and having a relationship with Him would be inevitible. Consistent with freewill over pre-destination.

As all of the above use the bible as the word of God, it is never a bible versus science issue. It is a biblical interpretation in relation to modern scientific findings issue in terms of which scriptures have to be read as literal versus which can also be interpreted as a deeper revelation allegorically metaphorically or symbolically.

OK! Here's my own version of the creation story: In the beginning all was in darkness. And God said "This SUCKS!" so God said, "Let there be a BIG BANG!" and then God said "OK, my work is done! I'm going out to get a beer!" Of course, God had to wait about 12 to 13 billion years until some small insignificant little planet evolved some kind of beings intelligent enough to brew a really good beer. But what the Hell? If you're God and you're immortal, what's a few billion years, give or take?

ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE could not have sustained itself eternally because of entropy (even in an open system). Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. CREATIONISTS RIGHT ABOUT ENTROPY. Read this Internet article. Entropy occurs in both open and closed systems. In every transfer of energy some of the energy becomes useless. Given enough time, all of the energy becomes useless and the universe cannot be sustained. Even in an open system, there has to be an already existing energy-converting, directing mechanism to develop order such as when a seed becomes a tree. Spontaneous order from chaos is not possible, not to any significant degree.

NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). ALL REAL EVOLUTION ( i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.) in nature is the expression, over time, of already existing genes. Evolution is possible only if there’s information (genes) directing it. Only variations of already existing genes are possible, which means only limited evolution and adaptations are possible. Nature has no ability to invent new genes via random mutations caused by random environmental forces. That’s evolutionary faith, not science. Read my article, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!

EXPLAINING HOW AN AIRPLANE WORKS doesn't mean no one made the airplane. Explaining how life or the universe works doesn't mean there was no Maker behind them. Natural laws explain how the order in the universe works, but mere undirected natural laws can't explain the origin of that order. Once you have a complete, living cell then the genetic code/mechanisms exist to direct the formation of more cells, but how did the cell naturally originate when no directing code/mechanisms existed in nature?
