U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo and Joyce Kaufman-Radio Talkhost ( www.850WFTL.com )Advocates of making English the "official language" of the U.,S. debate Jose Cancela and MiguelPerez who demand we Americans must pander to them by providing their Spanish speakingImmigrants with multiple services in Spanish. They expect U.S. taxpayers to pay for Spanish Language translations in schools, government agencies, welfare offices, Social Security Offices, Drivers License Tests and Spanish language Voting Ballots! Why should we Americans pay taxes for Spanish language translations? Especially when they know before coming to the U.S. that our Common language is English.

Jose Cancela & Migeul Perez being in the media business are deliberately profiting by keeping their ethnic group speaking only Spanish! If their Spanish Speaking people begin speaking English, they would lose immediate control of their masses in politics as well as lost profits going to the English language media instead.

Also, it is highly outrageous that Rick Sanchez says his own Cuban exile parents live in Miami since coming here from Cuba in 1960 they still "can't speak English" after coming to Miami in 1960! That was 48 years ago! Culdn't they atleast learn 20 words per year? Rick Sanchez just began running his outrageously biased programs on
CNN on Miami's English language conflicts
with his Spanish language speakers in Miami who refuse to learn English even when they
choose to come to live in an English speaking country such as the USA.

When in Rome do as the Romans do.

  • «No señor de ninguna manera.» —Miguel Pérez.

  • @lucho93062 You can speak whatever language you want. However, the people who speak english should not have to catter to that person.

  • @mg5679 I think it is imporntant to learn english, but in this case, you can't force people to learn any language in the world with policies or things like that, cus if you are american, if you were born in the US, you must be treated with the same rights to choose and decide votating in the country you live; and if we already have a mayority of this population, we must respect that fact. Diversity is wonderful and enriching, greetings from Colombia dude :)

  • @mg5679 Sure that's right, but i'm talking about the current american context, an almost bilingual country, where the spanish speakers are already a mayority. The thing is, ignoring this fact can't be allowed. if we were talking about two or three million people, that would be right, but now the US is a bilingual conuntry. it is right to learn the local language if you are a foreigner, but if your parents were, and you are not, you should have the right to speak the language you want.

  • @lucho93062 they have a right to speak their language but they also need to learn english in order to asimilate with the majority.

If I moved to another country I would make sure that I learned that countries language in order to asimilate with the majority of people. I would also do it out of respect because they shouldn't have to catter to me because I don't speak their language.

  • @mg5679 Well, it is important to understand the current context in the US right now, we are talking about a number of 50.000.000 spanish speakers, the most of them native speakers, who are american citizens and deserve to be respected and treated equally with the mayority of americans in the country. it is important to acknowledge that reality and act with certain respect and responsability to preserve diversity over nationalism.

  • @lucho93062 any person has a right to speak any language they want in their homes. However, voting ballots should be in english only and many other things as well. If schools want to have foreign language classes that is great but other classes should be taught in english only.

  • @mg5679 That's a natural process that has to be understood; the same thing once happend with the german, italian and poles in the US, who assimilated the language with the time and years. But, any kind of absurd policy forcing the citizens to decide for a different language than the one they chose, applied in any country is just thoughtless, repressive and has to be rejected.

  • @lucho93062 since the majority of americans speak english, why should we have to acomodate people who don't speak english? It is the job of the immigrant to asimilate with the culture and learn the language.

  • @ANDREW1994ization you missed the point I was trying to make. I said if a person from another country wants to live in this country they need to understand english. I said if I moved to another country I would learn that countries language out of respect towards the people in that country because they should have to acomodate me.
