I would like to inject some indisputably common sense into this argument. Regardless of what you believe concerning global warming don't you think its at least time to acknowledge the fact that pollution is HARMFUL... or had this not crossed anyones mind? I guess its a coincidence that the largest most populated areas on the planet are becoming shrouded in smog... breathe in that FRESH L.A. air... or take a stroll down the dense stifled streets of Hong Kong... or any other metropolis.

Pollution is harmful. Duh. However, if you look at the geography of the Los Angeles metropolitan area and take a class to study weather patterns, you'll understand why L.A. is destined to be smog-filled.

Next, I'd like to respond to your commentary posted on my main page. If you do not understand what I mean by "American Exceptionalism" and choose to instead view it as some sort of swaggering skinflint mentality, then I can't help you. If you aren't American, you won't understand.

I know exactly what you mean. It's so damn frustrating that these "scientists" believe that they can just make up anything and everything and somehow convince us that it's real just to give the left something to go off of. I see some hope yet, though, people are slowly realizing what the left is all about. How do I know this? Hell, when was the last time that cespool of a state NJ elected a republican? Yet they DID IT! Hopefully that newfound common sense carries over to congress in 2010.

All sarcasm aside. You and I really *do* agree on one thing, emissions trading is a stupid idea. It tries to address a real problem in a way that is too abstract and was conceived of mostly to benefit investors.

But whatever Glenn Beck may say, scientists have been investigating climate change for over sixty years long before the politicians and political 'analysts' got interested. They don't understand what proxy data is. Or what words like 'trick', 'theory' or 'law' in scientific context.

So because of LA's geographical location it has smog. So what about ALL the other massive cities on the planet that have ecological problems? And another thing... i'm sure 200 years ago LA was not thought of as DESTINED to be smog-filled... was it the magic smog fairy that put it there?

I am american, and I do know what AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM is...but all americans care about are themselves, which is a natural tendency, but lets not pretend that the US doesn't have $%#& stains in its underwear

My local newspaper first reported on Climate Gate today, and this scandal broke weeks ago.

And yet, every day there's another article on how the copenhagen treaty must happen or were all going to die! ..
