Jeffreys played matriarch "Sylvia Bancroft" on this soap, but was most famous for having played "Marian Kirby," the female "ghostess with the mostest" on the CBS sitcom "Topper," with real-life husband Robert Sterling as male ghost and spouse "George Kirby."

The two haunted "Cosmo Topper," the title character who was "host to said ghosts," played by the wonderfully dry Leo G. Carroll, who was later famous as "Mr. Waverly," the boss on the NBC spy series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

"Bright Promise" was also the soap debut of Tony Geary, who would become famous as "Luke Spencer" (of "Luke & Laura" fame) on "General Hospital" about six or seven years after this soap ended.

Geary played a mentally-retarded boy named "David" on this soap.

Although originally the nominal star of this soap was Dana Andrews, he left earlly on, and such great actors/actresses as Mark Miller, Dabney Coleman, Gail Kobe, Susan Brown, and Ann Jeffreys would join the cast.

The Somerset opening scares me a bit, with the town appearing or disappearing or whatever.

I've heard Bright Promise was a more contemporary soap and seen as ahead of its time in some ways, I guess the opening just wasn't a reflection.

I agree. That opening looked like something from the 50's, not 1969. However, next to "Days of our Lives" and "GH" this had to be one of the few soaps to not have a organ playing the theme. I think one of the last soaps to do that was NBC's "Somerset" which which premired a year later in 1970.

This is a very dated opening. Miss Brooks could be a teacher here.

Dear Travis082185, Anthony Geary also played rapist, George Curtis on the first season of " The Young And The Restless" back in 1973.
