I am a separated father with a 9 year-old son who I have 50-50 staying contact with. At the moment when he is with me we share a bedroom in a 6-person shared house, along with 5 other adults and various boyfriend and girlfriends. As I understand it my accommodation situation is sufficiently bad for me to be eligible to be housed by the council in a 2-bedroom flat under a Band A category of need. The Lettings Policy states "where two applicants have equal staying contact with the children, the children will be counted as part of both applicants household when assessing bedroom requirements." Anyway, since July 2008, and through process of application, rejection, appeal, rejection, Independant Complaints Comission, rejection and Local Government Ombudsman I seem to be unable to convince them that my son stays with me half the time. I am unable to prove it because I am not told what proof is, and whatever I have provided is not deemed to be sufficient. I have provided a letter from my ex-partner, my landlord, my housemates, photos of my room and scans of the diary showing the days I have my son. Anyway in desperation I turn to YouTube for solace and advice.
