"I know it's hard for you, but I'm just asking. We're going to have to do this sometime," he said softly, watching his meat.

"Nick, I don't think so," I shook my head.

"Just think about it, Sarah." Changing the topic, he added, "Oh, and can you and Miley go back into the kitchen and start cooking some eggs for breakfast?"

I nodded, feeling a little bit of tension between us--which has never happened before. "We can talk later," I mumbled giving him a quick peck on his cheek before walking away. I was supposed to make him fall for me, not meet his parents and get stuck in a commitment.

"Hey," I said, walking back inside the house and greeting Miley. "I was out for a walk when Nick called me and said that we should start cooking some eggs for breakfast," I explained.

"Already done," Miley said opening the oven for me to see the plate of scrambled eggs.

"Wow, okay... Maybe we should set up the table then. Where's Joe?" I asked, grabbing down four plates from the cabinet.

Opening the drawer to my right, she grabbed some utensils. "He's in the washroom brushing his teeth and just waking up," Miley laughed.

"Oh," I answered before walking over to the table and setting up all the plates.

"So, you and Nick are friends, right?" Miley asked as she made her way over. Was she on to us? Did she see us just talking earlier? This wasn't good...

I pretended to set up the table to give me a moment to think. "Uh, yeah, I guess. He's one of the first people I met here," I said approximately. Technically, he was the first since I had walked up to him and started to talk to him.

"Oh, okay... So you don't like him or anything right?" She clarified. Okay, seriously did she see us or is she just feeling slightly challenged?

"Why? Do you think I do?" I questioned her, as we finally finished setting up the table.

"No!" She responded kind of offended. "I'm just asking curiously..."

I nodded, pretending to buy her act. "Okay, that's fair. But I do like him, he's my friend, right?"

"Right..." She trailed, relieved. "But it wouldn't have worked out anyway... He's only into light brunettes." Ouch, I think she just dissed me.

"Right," I mocked her, faking a smile. Honestly, who did this woman think she was?! The Queen of England or something?! I really didn't like the jealous side of her.

"Is the eggs done?" Nick asked, ending our conversation as he walked in with the plate of bacon and sausages.

Miley and I both nodded as she quickly walked over to the oven and pulled them out. She also started to toast some of the bread, which annoyed me slightly.

"What's wrong?" Nick mumbled to me quiet enough that I barely heard, placing the plate down at the table, his eyes glanced back up at me.

I rolled my eyes before flickering them at Miley, which obviously Nick understood. "She's not a morning person is she?" I whispered when she excused herself to find Joe back in the guest room.

Nick just smiled slightly, shaking his head. "Nope... That's what I like about you though. You're good for anytime," he teased, trying to relieve some of the on-going tension.

"I see what you're doing there, and thanks. You're comment didn't really make me feel better, but the effort did," I smiled, still whispering back and forth to one another.

"So did you think about staying with me?" He asked before walking over and placing the toasted breads on a plate and toasting some more.

I shook my head, frowning partly. "But I heard you're into light brunettes, huh?"
