@mattmmd It's something to make hooking on easier when out on the hand. I believe that there's a product out there called 'easy hook' or 'lazy hook' or something. Theres a video of a musto skiff testing this system on here somewhere...... The point of it is that the elastic goes up to the handle and the solid plastic extension means the ring is always next to the ring, instead of the elastic pulling it out the way.
