A room with a view... film by James Ivory, dated 1986, This scène comes often back in my mind to evocate purity and fate, also the "bourgeoisy" of this time.

  • If someone who know this background's aria then pls let me know...!

  • @naughtygam

The aria is called 'Chi il bel sogno di Doretta' and is from one of Puccini's less known operas 'La Rondine'.

Refer to old comments hereunder !

  • Completely sensuous and utterly beguiling

  • Best kiss ever.

  • i love how he's like yup

  • Ps, in comparison the remake was utter trash. I suffered it from beginning to end. Never again.

  • Here is one of the most perfect films ever made. Every nuance, gesture, expression and line from brilliant actors. It could have been 5 hours and I wouldn't tire of it. I saw it when it first appeared and have seen it possibly 15-20 times and never tire of it at all. It is a jewel in the crown of cinema.

  • I could watch this forever. The "view" no doubt represents one's view of the world/life/passion; the Emersons trade views with the narrow Charlotte and the repressed Lucy, and eventually all hell breaks loose! But if this is hell, bring it on.

  • @funmartin1

All hopeless romantics will cry watching this scene. It's normal. It doesn't matter how big or tough anyone is. In fact, the tougher they are, the more they will tear up. Inside every tough guy there's someone who is begging for love. I hope you get to experience your own scene soon.

  • hmmmm i dont see any violets..... lol

  • Possibly my favourite film kiss of all time. The music, the scenery and the actors. Perfect.
