  • @ibkristykat Oh, you said what I did. As an aromatherapy consultant, I can corroborate that essential oils are concentrated enough to be dangerous if you use them without proper respect.

  • @FBboy2 I'm not sure what it's like in your state, but it's actually illegal to burn the kind you're thinking of in any way except as incense. Smoking Salvia Officinalis would be a great way to induce coughing, but not a high.

  • Steam distillation has pretty discouraging yields, but it's traditionally the best way to get pure essential oils. Be careful when using them, as they are quite concentrated (if you decide to go out and get them). Herb-infused oils are great fun, and adding a little beeswax can turn it into a salve! Fun times.

@7thLunaDancer I may have to try that some time.

  • I'm not sure if you gotten an answer from how to make sage oils, but I believe its the same as how to make mint oils. Just get yourself a bottle of 80 proof or higher vodka and some clippings. Wash your clippings then stuff a zip lock bag with your sage then pour the vodka into the bag also. Zip it then place it into your freezer and let it sit for a couple of weeks. The oil will freeze and the vodka won't freeze. Strain the mixture then thaw out the oils. The vodka is reusable. Hope this helps.

  • .... is less harmful.. you don't have to dilute it, etc. and it can also be infused 1 or even 2 MORE times to make it stronger still. Essential oils are... wow. very strong & dangerous to use. you have to be careful with them. Herb infused oils aren't like that... so I suggest that.

  • I'm currently using dried sage (bought) in an Extra Virgin Olive Oil carrier and cold infusing it... shall be done in a month. Mountain Rose Herbs says to do it for 3 to 6 weeks. I did 4 oz. of herb and just covered it with the oil (cover it completely), and shake it once a day for the 3 to 6 weeks. This can then be used as an anointing oil, or even to lightly massage for medicinal use. I've read a lot of warnings of Essential oils, & that fixed oils or herb infused oils (as I'm doing) is
