Doesn't really fit into Blood And Fire, but would be great to see it in a future episode.

I agree. I think it could perfectly fit into the episode that they will film in June 2010, Phase II: Origins! ;D

been given a commendation for

his original thinking, not a dressing

down from a Commadore (sic).

According to what he says, you see that the Admiral knows that Kirk deserve more then a dress down, but as Admiral he has to explain the meaning of Kobayahi Maru Test to him. A lesson that Kirk will learn and that he will reapeat to Saavik in "The Wrath of Khan".

On the other hand "the art of cheating" to win an apparently "no-win" scenario is one of the bigger ability of Captain Kirk. But it isn't the point of this scene that I've found interesting and funny.

@IlSisko You did not pay attention to TWK did you? Kirk said "Just words", which means that Kirk made up the lesson or he never really believed it. Remember what Finnegan said "The Great Captain Kirk". From Finnegan’s point of view (even when he was Kirk's friend) Kirk was loved and admired by all. There are many examples that show that Kirk was never in trouble till he was Captain.

I think they took this sceen out because the some of the charecters are wearing the wrong uniforms. they should be wearing the turtel neck uniforms from "the cage" and "were no man has gone before"

There is one thing. This is a very good scene and it would look great in the origins episode, but why does it look like they're at Starbase 11? I thought they were supposed to be at Starfleet Acadamy, on Earth.
