  • I played bagpipes back in jr. high and high school. My school, Shorecrest, had a Highlanders theme and I was part of the pipe band. In my early 20's I sold my pipes, unwillingly. I always regretted it. Now I have new pipes. This youtube series is perfect for me as I try to remember grace notes, birls, etc.

Thank you so much for such a clear training video.

  • Thanks,

    Your a good teacher.

I am in lessons and am learning more from you than my instructor.

  • you forgot F you american

  • Thx for the info. it helps alot!

  • chihuahuasquaredance,

How is the electronic chanter working out for you? Is the sound anywhere near authentic? I've always wondered. BTW, I like your work, "Horses at Black Mesa" it seems to jump off of the screen at me. It reminds me of a place I worked out in the Black Rock Desert of northern Nevada. Keep up the good work! :)

  • That was so helpful!! Actually hearing the grace note concept versus trying to read about them made 3 months of study take a great leap forward! Thank you my friend!! :)

I was sold a McCallum chanter as a starter: is there anything special I should know about that in particular?

Thanks again, very much enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing!!

  • Thanks! Your videos are very helpful. I'm learning first on the Ross electronic, so I can concentrate on fingerings. After I'm coordinated, then, I can look at a true bagpipe.

  • This video does help a great deal.

  • You helped me as well. Thank you.

  • niiice it helped me alot ! thanks
