@TheMashusama the light rails also drive very slowly when the tracks intersect with the roads. they can stop fairly quick, but for people to just try to turn in front of them like that
is asking too much of the train,

I remember when some of this stuff happened, after a while I quit paying attention to it. The Metro is cursed... I swear it it... I live in the suburbs of Houston and I swear our light rail is cursed!

Great video music is epic

@pawpawnorth Well you wouldn't know because you dont live here....Elevated is the only option because if Honolulu built under ground rail the cost would SOAR and it would be too difficult to repipe, rewire, and would jeopardize historic buildings and sites....If we built street level then it would just cause CARMEGEDDON!!! Gridlock everywhere and we SIMPLY DONT HAVE the space (LAND) to build it.....so that is why we are building above our existing Highways and Streets.....

@sexeman76 You realize it's rapid transit, not "lite rail", also it costs way more than street running, as well as creates somewhat of a barrier between downtown and the waterfront by being elevated. Houston Metro Rail did their job, it's the drivers who have to catch up.

Honolulu is doing this the RIGHT way..we are building an Elevated Lite Rail system to avoid street grade collisions and adding more congestion to our already overcrowded roads..I'm now sure if this system will help getting cars off the road but I'm a supporter for rail! It's another option of public transit and I welcome it!!! "TheTrain" will be fully operationally from Kapollei to Ala Moana center (Honolulu) by 2017 or 2018 depending on how smoothly each phases are built
@sx4dude2013 It's necessary to use public streets for the light rail tracks because of the high water table, which would make it difficult and expensive to build a subway. LRVs travel fast, take a long time to slow down, and are deathly quiet. People, however, are to blame for all of these collisions, not the LRVs. Main Street is clearly marked with signs, signals and pavement arrows, anyone who can't follow those is to blame.

I almost hate myself for laughing at this; the footage by itself would be a bit disturbing, but the music just pushes it into comedy. Maybe all light rail trains should blast "Ride of the Valkyries" as they go down the street, as a warning...
