Lol @ everyone overanalyzing. It's all 4/4 grooves. It's all Meshuggah is. Except for the occasional 3/4-oriented songs.

How I know when I'm listening to a Meshuggah song on YouTube. Everyone is talking about time signatures.

Time signatures don't matter. Rhythm matters. 4/4 or not, the rhythms Meshuggah uses are unconventional and often change mid-song, and that's what makes them interesting and more musically advanced than your average metal band, not theory quipping.

If you're that obsessed about time signatures, go listen to the jazz album New Age of Aquarius by Andy Milne. They play with no time signatures at all, and the album is rhythmically flawless.

if 17/8 means that every beat is an 8th note, id love to hear you tell me what that would mean for 6/16 :P bleed for the most part is just that 3 against 4 polyrhythm because of the herta being a 3-beat pattern, against the pulse thats in 4 :)
