  • hello. I'm from Chile. after reading your comments I say q is better to start to watch and wait to see if it really is necessary to evacuate, here in chile many people died because they knew that was what really had to do

  • @Paupandora Thanks for your feedback. I don’t understand your last point - “here in chile many people died because they knew that was what really had to do.” What do you mean by that? What did they know that they had to do?

  • @Paupandora I see. I am sorry. That’s quite sad - that the authorities hinder rather than help the people.

  • don't you think it's kinda weird that they evacuated a shit load of people in japan and in russia? i'm always thinking about stuff like that. oh i heard you mention something about yugoslavia. i'm a serbian from what is now bosnia(former yugoslavia. much love

  • Thanks for your comments. Government and media love to panic people. I've also heard that they were doing it in Australia and New Zealand, even though they are even farther away.

    Bob

  • Well. It's better to be worried, just in case.

I mean, something similar happened in the 1960's. And look at what they had to pay.

  • @YinYangBob Excuse my English is not good.

I meant that in Chile people do not know what to do and would not start so died in the tsunami, the authorities also burn to the alarms and this caused people to not reach the evacuation.

  • NOAA published a tsunami warning for a *possible* 6-8' SURGE. That's different that an 8 foot SURF- its a sudden 8' rise in local sea level.

That's dangerous if you are on the beach when it happens. It's not if you are safely out of harms way.

Its not a hoax. Its not the government and media "causing panic"- its our scientists giving us critical safety information and our media getting the word out.

I live here and as you saw we were not panicking. We were partying. :D Thanks to the warning.

  • the reason they did it in australia and new zealand is because statistically, tsunami's gain potential energy if they travel in deeper waters and more distance. plus its an island so there arent much places to hide. it was an 8.8 earthquake. the biggest one ever recorded was a 9.4. do the fuckin research before you call it a hoax. im from hawaii and i dont like it when a "haole" talks shit about my island and home. DEFEND HAWAII FOR LIFE.....

  • Well. I think the reason of this is because of what happened in 1960. Similar to today/yesterday except for the fact that after one of the later waves, a huge wave came, swept away children and caused damage. Which is what they were worried about, more or less, I would guess.
