@run2ron Like in Germany, they strafed anything they came across, and a lighthouse is a neat target....

@shivrrrr If you look closely, you can see that he is using the splashes to walk his fire into the tree line at targets and the power house (where the chimney is). Its hard to aim at low altitude, due to not having time to correct your aim-point.

Good thing they took out that ricefield at 1:20.

@ChampionFx oh yeah, if it was a german who strafed the lighthouse everyone would whine, i saw this once, when a luftwaffe pilot strafed a lighthouse everyone called him a criminal, but since this is an american pilot everything is justified
fuck you haters

Also lets remember what the Japanese did to Allied POW's as for the rules of war did you forget the Sneak attacked Pearl Harbor? In Europe the Nazi's bombed cities Rotterdam,Warsaw, Belgrade, Coventry. Southhampton, Athens and after that the gloves were off. The morality issue was backseat to what was going to end the war soonest, and the death camps justified ANYTHING we did to stop them, Japan had every chance to give up but did not,TOKYO was the worst air raid in history not the A bomb!

The marksmanship of this pilot has been criticized and I for one disagree. he opens up and the tracers are RIGHT THERE you might want to remember that he's flying 330 plus mph and GETTING SHOT AT and he's at tree top height. Di you notice he almost colidded with tress etc? I am glad he was on our side!

to the guy who said they should not be shooting at a lighthouse etc. You obviously don't know a thing about the war in the Pacific!(or Med) ANY instalation that helps the enemy is a legit target.

Many lighthouses served as a flak tower and was vital enemy object anyway so strafing was part of the targets for fighter planes during returning from other various mission on their way back home to the base .

Before your Read this Comment: Im German, so dont wonder about my bad English!
I think there is another reasen for strafing a Lighthouse, too. A lighthouses Navigates Ships on the Coast. And if there is no Lighthouse more, the ships can not com to the Harbor, because they dident find them. Or the ship drives on Ground. And if ships cant com to the Harbor, they cant bring Supplys to the Groups. So i think.

Ships navigation is indeed also a reason for strafing lighthouses ;-)
