I install these systems in the states. It uses a pneumatic valve block that runs across the length of the conveyor, with about 150 air jets. The jets are spaced about 2cm apart and are controlled by a PC.

After passing the NIR sensors, how does the plastic seperate and jump up to a different tunnel?
