@axelmoore I expect only what I paid honest money for. I hate it when a USA hotel franchise comes into a place like Newcastle & ruins it's good name. I love Newcastle, they're good people & have done it tough. Travel Lodge is damaging their reputation. Do U really think if they R2 lazy to clean the loo & shower UR sleeping in a fresh bed? Sucker! How many paying customers have already slept there? U will never know! Obviously you have not traveled to much? cause it happens all the time!

Hi @axelmoore Away again to Auckland NZ 4 7days. Weather was terrible, rain every day. Anyways back to the Travel Lodge and the one I rubbished deservedly so was the one at Newcastle, NSW, Australia with no reflection meant to other Travel Lodges around the world. And yes you R right there are a lot of nice little hotels tucked away around that city that R good value but there was something on. I had to stay at TL. It was the last room so it was take it or leave it or drive 2 Sydney 100mls away

Mattbruhhhxx let's be fair here. First I am not from Wellington. NZ. 2nd I have traveled most of the 1st -2nd & 3rd world countries. I do not expect any thing more than what I pay for. Unfortunately that's not what U get from Travel Lodge Newcastle. I love Newcastle. the city, the area, the people, they have done it tough for some time now. I just hate it when some crap hotel franchise comes along and ruins their good name. Not right, not fair! if U think it's OK that's your problem.

I think your comparing apples and oranges, you can hardly compare a travel lodge in Newcastle to Shangri-la and Hotels in asia. You have two single beds their push them together if you want a double so badly, otherwise their is only one of you and they wont set you up in a room with a double bed. Another thing your comparing a Travel Lodge HOTEL to other places like At Home APARTMENTS, Apartments are usually larger and more livable and hence you will get a kitchen.

@Templemain I've done a fair bit of travelling. I guess the Travel Lodges in the UK are different, coz theyve always been right good. cheap but cheerful!

Are there no other hotels in Newcastle? I bet there are tons of smaller ones, maybe just someones house with a couple extra rooms?

Shame on you for going to a place you "Love" and giving your custom to a massive corporation who more than likely wont put money back into the community, when you probably could have supported local people/business.
