What a beautiful ship to still be sailing. As the story goes she almost did not make it. On her first cruise sailing for Calcutta from Liverpool in January of 1864 under Captain William John Storry a collision occurred at night. A Spanish brig running without lights pulled the hit and run causing considerable damage carrying off her jib-boom and rigging.

tis damn boat is haunted, we spent the night on it one night and we saw sailors atop the masts, then they fucking disapeard, and we kep hearing noies and shit

I also visited this ship while in San Diego. The masts under the deck are enormous. I also thought that I heard that it was the largest steel hulled merchant ship still afloat...anywhere.

I visited this ship about ... 25 yrs ago ... it's a very beautiful Ship. I highly recommend people see this ship if possible
