Columnist Khaled Muntaser said the light over the church could be scientifically explained: "Lightning in these situations could be no more than a glow accompanying any electric discharge in the sky of a certain area. This glow is scientifically known as St. Elmo's fire, and it its more likely to occur during winter. It is just a static electricity like the one we sometimes feel while taking off a polyester shirt."

I believe that its the Virgin Mary who appeared.... because its not just light.... its many people who got cured from cancer and many other diseases... also many witneses who were there... including my grandparents... told me it felt different once you were there watch Virgin Mary...

It amuses me how some so-called Christians come here and slam Catholics calling us the church of satan. These supposed public masturbating born again followers of Jimmy Swaggart need to look at themselves and ask God to forgive them of their sins rather than to be judging others. Their gay ministers and preachers keep condemning homosexuality when most of them are homos themselves. Like Jesus said : "let he who's without sin cast the first stone."

@loloyungti Don't be stupid! Why would satan come up to save Christians? Why would satan want to save any of God's children? If evil & disorder came about by these apparitions, then I can agree that this maybe satan. Only good had come out of this. and Mary was a Jewish girl just as her son Jesus was. She, just like her son, have a special throne in the Kingdom of God. Lastly, read: Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." and Matt 7:2-5..open your Bible & read the rest.

I'm just glad that a large number of the worlds population now has high quality cameras on them at all times. With all the Smartphones and even regular camera phones out there capable of high quality images, coming miracles should be much easier to see :)

Do not be naive. Satan can masquerade as an angel of light. so how do you know this so called apparition is not a demon? The true Mary is a simple Christian girl who died and who is now in heaven worshipping the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She has no power to do apparitions. In heaven, she is just a nice Christian servant of the Lord at the same level as any Christian who die in the Lord. The Bible tells us to test the spirits whether or not they are really from the Lord.

@leptismagna10 --For what it's worth, I personally have met and spoken to a Coptic Orthdox priest who was present at Zeitun, Egypt. He tells me that 100s of thousands of people saw the apparition, himself included. By the way, he is a very educated man, as are his children--his son is a optometrist and his daughter a cpa, if I'm not mistakened. And yes, they both attended public universities where science is taught.
