This is the original version of the song "Soft Voice" performed by the '60s psychedelic group Summerhill. Originally written by Larry Hickman (Summerhill), Dan covered it on his last album "Love In Time". This is one of the few places you will be able to hear this song!

Please take a moment to sign the petition to have Dan inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

  • So glad you posted this!! I also wondered what the original was like, to compare with Dan's incredible cover of it. I think Dan's was a great, contemporary, and somewhat darker version. I love it; it's one of my favorites on his much treasured final album.

  • Thanks for posting. I love Dan's version and always wondered how faithful he stayed to this original.

  • Thank goodness you found the song and put it on here! I have been wanting to know what the original song sounded like. Thank You!!! As always YOU ROCK!!!

  • From what Jean said, Dan had this album in his collection. Love how Dan put his own special touch on this song. He was an amazing singer/songwriter. miss him...

  • Didn't surprise me that Dan F. used this on his last studio album. For most who don't know this band, they are from the late 60's and a very obscured band, much like Dan was in his style of writing and thank god for it! Dan brought this song to life with his magic... just wished he left a note on why he used it, it's so haunting! I believe I just answered my question!

  • Amazing...how did Dan find this song! Never heard of these guys, but I like both renditions of the song..

  • A mediocre attempt and a poor immitation of an artist who was the real deal.
