this coming from full native american (ojibwa tribe) i kinda thought it was funny, and i just think that the people who made this didn't know any much about us at the time, so they used the stereotypics of the native american. so just laugh it off, its just a cartoon. a great cartoon. i love betty boop.

It made me smile. I'd love to laugh it off, however, these stereotypes are still so pervasive. As a target of stereotypes, prejudice and (double) discrimination, I easily recognize how this is offensive and of course, racist. Can't deny it's overtly racist nature!

Can't anyone just look at the great animation, the music, and the characters and not have to bring up a discussion about racism. It's not mean spirited, it's silly pure and simple. It was a product of its' time 1939, so just enjoy a vintage piece of film and shut the hell up with analyzing and trying to find racist meaning in it.
